One-to-one coaching · Matt Cook

Recover from pain, with someone who’s been there

I had pain for twelve years before I recovered, using a mind, body and emotions approach. In coaching, we meet for an hour a week and I help you take the next step, physically, emotionally and mentally, until your body works and feels good again.

What coaching is

The aim is simple: recover from the pain in your body. Not a little relief, but most or all of it gone, with good flexibility and mobility, and you thriving.

Pain has emotional, mental and self-esteem sides to it, so as it goes, the rest of life tends to start working better too. You step out of a life run by conflict and dysfunction and into one driven by feeling good. In a way it’s life coaching, with a strong focus on your body.

Each week I’ll ask what you want to work on. What you’ve felt, what’s come up, where you’re stuck. You might show me a movement that catches with pain, or tell me about an emotion that seems tied to it, or about a week when life knocked you flat and you couldn’t move at all. Wherever you are, I’ve likely been there, and I’ll show you the exact movement, the shift in emotion or the change of mindset that gets you through the next week.

How it works

  1. Email me

Tell me what’s going on: your pain, your history, what you want to achieve. Whatever’s on your mind.

  2. A free first call

About an hour. First I get to know your situation, then I tell you what I’d plan for you over the next three months. You’ll get value from it either way.

  3. An hour a week

If it’s right for both of us, we meet once a week for an hour, and you make steady progress from week to week.

What people have done with it

One woman came to me with a frozen shoulder, after months in and out of physiotherapy. She couldn’t lift her arm past halfway. We mobilised it gradually, week by week, and within twelve weeks it moved freely.
A man had injured his back and been told by every doctor to be careful. He was so afraid of re-injuring it he could barely move. Now he plays basketball, has taken up dance, and does a bit of kickboxing.
One to three months

Out of pain

A direct change in your main area of concern: from not working at all to working and feeling good.

A year or two

The whole body

Re-engineer how you move, leave body dysfunction behind completely, and get your whole life back.

Is it a fit?

Choose a coach who has had pain like yours, as bad or worse, and recovered from it with a mind, body and emotions approach. Someone who was always naturally good at movement can only prescribe from a textbook. You want someone who has climbed the same mountain, who understands everything you say.
